The aim of the consortium is to dynamise the Son Bou tourist route in Menorca by creating an innovative Augmented Reality APP to enhance the value of the ecosystems and heritage of the area. Specifically, the project will involve the development of an interactive Augmented Reality and 3D recreation APP to highlight and disseminate the importance of the natural environment and heritage of Son Bou, with the aim of motivating the international public to visit and enjoy the area, knowing and respecting its ecosystems.
The impact of the project is relevant in qualitative terms as it involves:
-The enhancement of sustainable tourism. -The dissemination and international promotion of the Menorca, Biosphere Reserve project.
-The revaluation of the cultural and social heritage of Alayor and Son Bou.
-The evaluation of visitor satisfaction in order to optimize the experience by means of a final survey.
-The alignment of the project with the call is clear in that the main objective is to create a technological tool that can create positive effects on the dynamisation of sustainable tourism through an innovative Augmented Reality application.
-The innovative profile of this collaborative project covers several areas:
(a) ROUTE WITH ITS OWN ENTITY: The AR app will complete the tourist, environmental and cultural information of Son Bou. In fact, the project involves the configuration of a route with its own entity to enjoy the dune systems, wetlands and heritage of the area. It also promotes care for the environment, with an emphasis on the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda.
b) ACCESSIBLE AND FLEXIBLE. This technological tool ensures access to information for all visitors, with no time limit.
c) INTERACTIVE. The AR app will be interactive, so that visitors will be able to choose the information they wish to view, consult the map and activate the drop-down menus and pop-ups whenever they wish to enhance their experience.
d) EXCLUSIVE: The 3D recreation of the Paleochristian basilica of Son Bou will be exclusive content of the app and will allow visitors to see the magnitude of the temple first hand.
