TURISMO IN VILLA is a project aiming to promote Venetian Villas as tourist destinations in the Veneto region. The Venetian Villas represent a widespread cultural heritage of unique value; promoting tourism in the villas therefore contributes to valorise the regional territory with its excellences as a whole, promoting slow and sustainable tourism practices throughout the year. The project involves four Venetian Villas, and foresees the creation of digital contents to promote the heritage of the villas and make it accessible to tourists and visitors.
With the overall goal of valorizing the cultural heritage of the Veneto Region through tourism and of promoting new forms of sustainable tourism pivoted around the regional excellences, the project TURISMO IN VILLA – Promoting tourism in the Venetian Villas aims to:
1. Make digitally available the heritage of the Venetian Villas for tourists and visitors, through the use of VR technology;
2. Promote the Venetian Villas as a tourism product that represents the Veneto Region, in close relationship with the regional territory and in line with the concept of slow and sustainable tourism, beyond the traditional routes of mass tourism.
The TURISMO IN VILLA Project will achieve the following concrete results:
Thanks to the application of the VR technology, the spaces of the ancient Venetian Villas that are part of the project will be made available for virtual tours to tourists and visitors, according to the specificities of the villas and their preferred target groups (i.e. short stays, cultural tourism, MICE, Food&Wine);
- A promotional video of the cultural heritage of Venetian Villas in the Veneto Region will be realized through the use of drones, also involving other villas in the regional territory. Such results will be communicated through project partners’ websites as well as through other communication channels at the regional level, also in synergy with other projects.
Through its activities, the project expects to bring to multiple benefits at different levels. First, it will contribute to the promotion and development of the involved structures, which expect to increase their bookings and number of visitors in the medium and long term. Furthermore, the project expects to have a larger impact at the regional level, promoting the tourism to the Venetian Villas as a regional excellence, in the perspective of a regional tourism ecosystem. On top of this, the project will certainly contribute to the promotion of a more sustainable tourism directed to less common areas and during all seasons; such tourism brings benefits to local economies, thanks to the links that the Venetian Villas have with other local activities.
